Franz Peter Basten 

Franz Peter Basten studied law in Germany and Switzerland (Geneva). After having worked in public administration as Governing Council since 1974, he became a Judge and worked as such from 1975 – 1979 at the Regional and Local Court of Trier. From 1979 – 1985 and from 1991 – 1994 he was a member of the Landtag of the Land Rhineland-Palatinate, and from 1985 – 1991 he held the office of State Secretary of the Land Rhineland-Palatinate, first in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and later in the Ministry of Economy. From 1994 – 1998 he was a member of the German Bundestag. With the exception of his time as State Secretary, he has worked as a lawyer in the Federal Republic of Germany since 1981. Since the year 2003 he has also been admitted to the bar in Luxembourg as avocat à la Cour.

 

In the Federal Republic of Germany, Franz Peter Basten has specialized in criminal law, administrative law, and general civil law; in Luxembourg, he has specialized in labour and employment law.
